CENTENARY VINEYARDS THAT REPRESENT THE ROOTS OF OUR HISTORY, SILENT WITNESSES OF THE FAMILY’S EVOLUTION.
Currently, we own nearly 200 hectares of vineyards in La Rioja and Navarra with an average age of 70 years, among which we find vines with more than a century of history. Most of them are located on the southern slopes of Monte Yerga at an altitude of between 400 and 800 metres above sea level, on poor, stony soils that are ideal for a vineyard with low yields but excellent quality.
The continental climate of the area, cold winters, warm and sunny summers with significant differences between day and night temperatures. A whole set of climatic influences and nuances that are allied to provide the grape with a unique and distinctive character.
“We are identified by tradition and our philosophy of cultivation. We never exploit the vineyard, whether it is young or old. We identify with the land and that is why we value it so much.
We have been producing organic wine since the beginning, we have always opted for alternative methods of cultivation that favour biodiversity and improve soil fertility because the land is our inheritance and that of our children”.
NATURE IS OUR INHERITANCE AND THAT OF OUR CHILDREN TO WHOM WE WANT TO LEAVE THE WHOLE EARTH IN THE ABSOLUTE BEST POSSIBLE CONDITION.
Following the teachings of our great-grandfather, we practise agriculture that is totally committed to nature. Biological control replaces insecticides, the plant cover is left to grow freely to reduce the erosion and the vineyard’s water requirements, and fertilisation is carried out using the manure from the sheep that graze around our estates. This manure is fermented and matured with Californian earthworms before being used as fertiliser to obtain a purified and enriched fertiliser that nourishes the vineyards in an organic and natural way. An exquisite product for our vineyards and olive groves.
The family’s work philosophy is to take care of each plot in a personalised way. The grapes are the protagonists, unique and different varieties, so each one is pampered individually to develop its personality and obtain its maximum potential.
Tempranillo, classic and noble. Garnacha, fun and expressive. Mazuelo, serious and traditional. Graciano, rebellious and original. Pinot noir, simple and jovial. Cabernet Sauvignon, round and long-lived. Merlot, sincere and extrovert. Chardonnay, elegant and glamorous. Viura, fresh and cheerful. Varieties that give personality to our wines, cavas and vermouths. Grapes pampered individually to enhance their unique characteristics.
Our most special vineyards are called Vidau. Centenary estates planted by the first generations of the family with a blend of varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, Graciano and Monastrell. A coupage that is transferred directly to the bottle to obtain the wines with the most character of the winery: Vidau, Arvum and Vinsacro Dioro.
THE ORIGIN OF GOOD WINE IS IN THE LAND AND IN THE METHOD OF CULTIVATION, WHICH IS WHY EACH VINEYARD IS PAMPERED AS IF IT WERE UNIQUE.
OLIVE GROVES AND VINEYARDS, A COMMON PAST AND FUTURE
Olive groves, like vineyards, have been cultivated in La Rioja since Roman times. Our great-grandfather was already cultivating it in the early years of the last century, two generations later we took up this practice again with the planting of 70,000 olive trees which we look after with the same philosophy as the vineyard.
The varieties cultivated are Arbequina and Tosca, which produce very fine, elegant olive oils that are smooth on the palate. These characteristics make them perfect to accompany and enhance the flavour of the best meals without detracting from the main ingredients.
A crop with which we recover part of the family’s history, a challenge we face with the desire to produce an elegant and sincere extra virgin olive oil that enhances the flavour of your recipes.
